Spectacular pass tours

This wonderful round trip with a length of 460 km takes you across the following passes (point of departure and endpoint Lenzerheide):

1) The Lukmanier Pass (1915 m a.s.l.) is the pass from Grisons into the Ticino. The European Watershed runs over the Lukmanier Pass.

TIP: A side trip worth seeing on your way through the Grisons Oberland is the Ruinaulta. It is a spectacular Anterior Rhine canyon with a depth of up to 400 metres and a length of approx. 13 kilometres between Ilanz and the Posterior Rhine water mouth near Reichenau

Here you will find the tour map and the GPS data of the Ruinaulta tour.

2) The San Bernadino Pass (2065 m a.s.l.) with its rough and rocky high mountain landscape is surrounded by impressive 2000-metre mountain peaks.

TIP: Here you have the opportunity to visit the Castelgrande in Bellinzona. It is one of the three castles in Bellinzona and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000.

3) The Splügen Pass (2113 m a.s.l.) with its 55 bends on the long south side appears Mediterranean and takes you back to the Grisons on a well-constructed road through the Val Bregaglia.

4) The Maloja Pass (1815 m a.s.l.) with its twelve proverbial hairpin bends and the amazing view on the height of the pass near the Hotel Maloja Kulm takes you to the beautiful Oberengadin.

5) The Julier Pass (2284 m a.s.l.) is the old classic where the Romans have impressively left their marks on the guesthouse with the two prominent crooked pillars. On the right and left side of the road, scree is lying at the foot of impressive mountains and a barren, tundra-like landscape flanks the pass road downhill into the Oberhalbstein to Tiefencastel.

6) The Albula Pass (2312 m a.s.l.) is narrower and scree masses are lining the road at the foot of impressive mountain peaks here as well. On the way, you can gaze at daring railway buildings of the Rhaetian Railway.

TIP: Near the Albula Pass you will find the beautiful Lai da Palpuogna. In 2007 it was elected the most beautiful place in Switzerland by the audience of “Leben Live”. Thus it is worth stopping here.

An amazing tour through the Engadin to Susch is following.

7) The Flüela Pass (2383 m a.s.l.) is more open and greener than the passes already lying behind you and lies impressively between the Weisshorn and the Schwarzhorn. It takes you over to the landscape of Davos.

Your tour continues in the direction of Frauenkirch – Glaris – Schmitten – Alvaneu until the turning back to the Lenzerheide.

TIP: Owe it to yourself to take a relaxing bath in the wellness area Alvaneu.

Here you will find the GPS data of the 7-pass-tour
