Bernina Express

An unforgettable Alpine journey of fascinating contrasts: the Bernina Express, as the highest railway track over the Alps, connects northern Europe to the south. After a good three-hour ride, the Bernina Express ends its journey past the Swiss border in Tirano in Italy. The Albula and Bernina line is a masterpiece of engineering which, in summer 2008, was recorded as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

 

From Lenzerheide, the trainstaion in Chur or in Tiefencastel are ideal to embark the train.

 

Glacier Express - The slowest express train worldwide

In summer the Glacier Express runs three times a day between St. Moritz and Zermatt and vice versa. On the 8 hours tour between the tourism metropolises the guest experiences in the fully air-conditioned panorama coach of the “slowest express train worldwide” breathtaking landscapes and masterpieces of railway technology.

Between St. Moritz and Thusis (approx. 60 kilometres), the Glacier Express furthermore drives through the Albula Valley and therefore on a section of the Rhaetian Railway which has been added to the UNESCO world heritage list in 2008. On their tour the passenger gets information on the sights in six languages. With meals freshly prepared on board and directly served at the seat, food and drink is provided for. More than 200‘000 persons enjoy this exclusive railway journey every year.

Albula Railway Museum in Bergün

The Albula Railway Museum is located in Bergün, on the RhB Albula line. A place for families and railway enthusiasts. With staged rooms, original exhibits and one of the last “Krokodil” locomotives, the museum offers exciting aspects of this spectacular Swiss railway line. On an area of more than 1,300 square metres, visitors will find over 600 exhibits dating back to more than 100 years of railway history, as well as attractions such as a driving simulator in the original “Krokodil” driver's cabin, changing exhibitions, a model workshop, an adventure exhibition with children's tour and display depot for both experts and amateurs
